The VPS program provides an integrated line of services including data collection, user meetings, networking, research, comparative reports, and data analysis and application, designed to create a network of children's hospitals and other facilities offering PICU care to improve the quality of critical care for children worldwide.

The VPS system is a clinical database dedicated to standardized data sharing and benchmarking among pediatric ICUs. All participants collect information on patient and hospital measures, diagnoses, interventions, discharge, organ donation, and pediatric severity of mortality scores. Users can choose to collect data for multi-site research studies and additional internal research needs through customizable interfaces.

National Quality Forum Measures

Members of the VPS community have the capability to collect all data necessary for documentation of the six pediatric critical care core measures endorsed by the National Quality Forum (NQF) using the quality module.
